Hugs The Curves of the Nation

On Friday, 11th of February 2011, Real Women Australia kicked off it’s first ever nationwide event ‘Hugs the Curves of the Nation’. The time had finally arrived for us to extend our love and support from our Melbourne base headquaters to our fellow sisters around the Nation. And what a spectacular turn out the night was to be!  Over 180 women nationwide joined us for this groundbreaking event!

Across the five states the events kicked off simultaneously at 7pm.  Janine had prepared a video address for all guests in anticipation of the evening,

*MELBOURNE*

Melbourne hit it off with a BANG! Lisa’s Lacies opened their doors and in poured the guests. They arrived to receive a warm welcome by the fantastic team of staff at Lisa’s Lacies, as well as our Real Women Ambassadors, Evangeline and Monica.

Guests arrived to receive a glass of champagne and nibble on strawberries and chocolates.

Monica and owner Lisa opened up the evening with a moving speech. Evangeline said "I for one, felt proud to be part of something that gave back to all our Aussie curvy women. There was a sense of unity in the room and a real sense of pride and joy.  Monica opened up the evening by proudly re-emphasizing RWA’s philosophy and mission. Lisa gave a beautiful overview of all the amazing garments in the store.

The store instantly became an open playground for the all the guests to experience the fantastic sales and bargains. The atmosphere was incredible. In no time guests were mingling, carrying their purchased bag of goodies. There were plenty of smiles and laughter shared across the store. Lines were forming near the fitting rooms and cash register's. The joy and excitement filled the air!

Curvy Revolution models, Marita and Shasta modelled various lingerie and sleepwear outfits. The guests were dazzled by the stunning exclusive and exciting designs of the lingerie and sleepwear. What a fantastic way to celebrate our curves and just in time for Valentines day. Marita and Shasta rocked it out and the guests cheered them on.

Our Real Women Ambassadors, Monica & Evangeline were sensational on the evening ensuring all guests were welcomed and made to feel comfortable and whilst sharing the Real Women Australia love.  Thank you ladies!

*SYDNEY*

Janine made a surprise guest appearance in Sydney to host the event at the TS14+ / virtu Clearance Store.  From the moment she walked through the door the room was buzzing, the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming, the champagne was on ice and the chocolates & straweberries decadently presented.  The TS14+ team were amazing and helped to welcome the guests and settle everyone in.  Janine thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet with and work with the guests.  It was a happy, fun group of ladies who were happy to be encouraged to open up their thoughts to trying something "outside the box" for themselves.  Janine ensured she welcomed everyone personally and to the best of her ability during such a busy night, worked one on one with ladies to assist them with styling and advice.  We were also happy to welcome Nadine from Plus Maternity and Deb from Curvy Chic Forum who joined us on the night.  It was lovely for Janine to have the opportunity to finally meet face to face with others she communicates regularly in the Industry.  We were also lucky to welcome the gorgeous Sara from Artsnic Photography, our preferred Curvy Revolution Photographer in NSW.  Sara took some great snaps on the night, thank you Sara! The night was a roaring success and is the beginning of more to come!

*BRISBANE*

Our Real Women Ambassador, the lovely Erika worked hard to get the word out in Brisbane about our event.  As you all know, Brisbane was affected by massive floods and a cyclone at the time of the event.  To Erika's credit, she managed to ensure that the Brisbane Event was the first city to SELL OUT of tickets!!!!!!!  Congratulations and THANK YOU Erika for such a huge effort.  Brisbane guests arrived to a lovely set-up, chairs at the side of the store ready for the in-store showcase, gift bags beautifully made-up, and great garments to be seen.  Our own Cassidy strutted her stuff along with another in-store model who realistically and identifiably represented the garments available.  As always, the effect of seeing the garments on a real body created a frenzy at the changerooms and register when guests had a chance to browse through the beautiful garments.  There was alot of fun, laughing and great moments had by all.  Again, it is clear that our Brisbane customers are ready for some more Real Women Australia events - this is just the beginning!

*ADELAIDE*

Our gorgeous Curvy Revolution model Natasha hosted our Adelaide event as our Real Women Ambassador.  Cheeky Curves welcomed our event with great enthusiasm and the atomosphere was electric!  As you can see by the photo of Natasha (bottom left) - FUN was the name of the game - with no garment left unturned.  Just in time for Valentine's Day the ladies enjoyed a great time shopping for beautiful lingerie to flatter their curves.  The door prizes were even chosen out of a bra cup! Great idea ladies!  Although the smallest gathering of our nationwide event, the lovely ladies of Adelaide proved that they are just as passionate about staying true to their curves as their sisters in other states.  See you soon Adelaide!

*PERTH*

Over in the West, our Real Women Ambassadors Jo, owner of Boutique 88, and Tash welcomed a great group of happy ladies in for a night of style & fun.  Guests were entertained by the very talented Perth Star singers Shaye Bianchi and Georgia Meredith, two gorgeous ladies with beautiful voices - a real treat !  Alot of fun was had by all between the champagne, chocolates & strawberries was alot of styling and trying on of garments and happy customers who bagged some fantastic garments for their curvy wardrobes.  The girls in the West sure know how to have a great evening, and many of the girls headed out afterwards for some more fun and socialising.  We look forward to hosting many more evenings in WA soon!

United as one we all stood, proud to gather in support of our curvy figures, our uniqueness and individuality.  The chance to bring together like-bodied women to share a funfilled evening full of shopping, styling, friendship was overwhelming and each of us gained a stronger sense of empoerwment and support for one another.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who was instrumental in making this happen and a special thank you to all 180 ladies nationwide who joined us.
